How often do you get a chance to see a Broadway play in Victoria, BC? Since New York City is so far away, probably not very often, but if you like musicals, musical theater or are a fan of ABBA music or the television show Glee and want to see the action for yourself, I have good news for you: Mamma Mia! is coming to the Royal Theatre next summer on their North American Tour! The show is very limited with only 8 performances and is expected to sell out as soon as next month, so get your tickets soon! Read the rest of this entry »

It’s hard to believe that Christmas is just around the corner. As a kid I remember that Christmas felt like the day that would never arrive. However, as I get older it seems to come faster and faster every year. And while it might have something to do with the fact that department stores seem to be putting up Christmas decorations right after Labor Day, as we are deep into November there is no denying that Christmas is almost here.

“Flying by air does not compare”

November 13, 2011

Sue P (Eugene, Oregon)

We booked this trip through AAA as part of a package, and we are so glad we did! European-style catamaran ferry goes 30 knots/hour (that’s fast, folks!) and the ride was very smooth. Clearing customs into Canada and into the US was so easy compared to flying in. The land-side amenities, particularly the BATHROOMS past the gate, are very much appreciated. Food choices were better than an airplane; lots of legroom and reclining seats. Get there early to board early so you can sit by a window or up front for 180′ views. The vessel and the embarking/disembarking areas are very clean. The stewards are professional looking and very solicitous of our comfort. The ONLY way to travel around Puget Sound and the Salish Sea.

“Great side trip from Seattle!”

ColeenRN (Jacksonvile, FL)

My husband and I took an overnight trip to Victoria, BC via the Victoria Clipper. The boat was very comfortable and the staff attentive to any needs that you may have. It was a very smooth trip.

Victoria is a very pretty harbor town. There are plenty of restaurants, shops, museums, and other attractions to keep you busy. We took a trip to Butchart Gardens which were absolutely beautiful! The British Columbia museum and Thunderbird Park, with all the totem poles, is a great way to spend a few hours. The museum has wonderful displays and is very interesting.

“Excellent experience”

neelie55 (Florida)

Took the ferry from Seattle to Victoria for the day. I was a bit apprehensive because I had to get up early to get the Clipper and I had just returned the previous night from Hawaii. I am so glad I went! The trip was easy, the scenery was fantastic and the staff was very attentive. They serve you food, (for purchase), and even have a duty free shop on board. Victoria was amazingly beautfiul and the return trip was equally enjoyable. I would highly recommend this experience. It was worth every cent!!!

Whistler is one of my favorite places I have ever been to. So far, I’ve been their twice and the second time was as awesome as the first. This means I am very excited to let you know that Clipper Vacations is selling Whistler two day lift tickets this year in addition to our Whistler Overnight Packages. If you don’t know very much about Whistler, let me tell you a few of the things that I love about it.

Pink Room at the Willow Stream Spa

Pink Room at the Willow Stream Spa at the Fairmont Empress

When we arrived in Victoria on Sunday, October 9th the sun-splashed city was buzzing with activity. As we circled the crimson-leaf-covered Fairmont Empress Hotel trying to park and check in, we were besieged by runners, walkers, wheelchair marathoners, and throngs of children, all converging on the busy downtown harbor for the annual Goodlife Fitness Victoria Marathon.

White peaked tents, and stages with radio and tv stations were set up in front of the parliament Building as thousands of runners made their way to the finish line. Over the loud speakers I heard the runner’s names and cities announced and was surprised to hear there were so many marathon participants from our own neighborhood Bothell, then Seattle, Kirkland, Redmond, Auburn, Everett and so on. It’s called the Pacific Rim, this wild west furthest-most point of British Columbia in Canada – gazing to sea from my little Zodiac while out on a whale watching tour, the next land mass is… Japan!

I was wrapped up warm and dry, as I shared the bay with 4 or 5 large grey whales spouting and diving in the water around me, hardly making a ripple in the water at all. Calm and quiet, gentle giants, unaware that their presence was making momentous memories that I would cherish far into my dotage!
