New Year’s Eve is on a Friday this year! Is that a good or a bad thing?!
New Year’s Eve tends to be one of those holidays where it can be tough to find the right thing to do to bring in the new year. This year can be different for you by making it a memorable evening on the Victoria Clipper III. We set sail at 10:15 from Pier 69 for a late night full of entertainment, champagne and spectacular views of the Space Needle fireworks.
This year we are happy to feature magician Bruce Meyers on board. He has been performing before the public for more than five decades. He has travelled the world perfecting his craft, playing large venues and entertaining top executives at corporate parties and banquets.
Bruce was happy to answer a few interview questions for the Clipper peeps!
Interview with Bruce Meyers:
Clipper: What is your all time favorite magic trick or magician?
Bruce: My favorite all time illusion is the fabled Standing Rope of India. It’s secret is known to very few of the world’s magicians and that’s the way it’s been since the first recorded performance over 1500 years ago. Any length of rope is first examined by the audience. It is then enchanted and caused to stand on its end. Being one of the world’s very few magicians who can I will be performing this on the Victoria Clipper’s New Years Eve cruise!
Clipper: At what point did you know that you wanted to be a magician?
Bruce: It was the first time I performed for an audience. The chemistry between that first audience and myself worked and we both had so much fun! I began to book more shows and it grew from there.
Clipper: What are you currently working on perfecting?
Bruce: I have two original acts I’m working on. In one act time slows down to the point that it stops and then goes into reverse. The 2nd act I fill the stage with real flowers that are passed out to the audience. My wife and I are pretty excited about getting these into performance which will be this coming year.
Clipper: If you could perform anywhere, where would it be and why?
Bruce: You made me think! A couple of years ago I performed in a poor village at the 9,000 foot level in Mexico. Most of the people there had never seen a magician before and were in absolute wonder. That was such a joy for us all that I would love another chance to perform again as an audience’s first theatrical worker of wonders.
His motto: “The noblest art is that of making others happy. That’s real magic. It’s What We Do.”
Can’t really argue with that one, can we?
